DJ Gonzo invites the top DJ’s in Chicago at his monthly residency. This month he invites heavy hitter: Flores Negras
Chicago's queen of the underground, Flores Negras, brings a raw, driving and sensual sound everywhere she plays. Tejano bred and Chicago raised, Flores draws inspiration from her cultural roots. Her style, clearly influenced by her background, showcases the diverse palate and rich cultures of house and techno music. Flores has long been a defining force in the city’s nightlife, most exemplified by role as the mother of MICTLĀN Productions, an underground music collective. Through her dozens of parties, she has made her name by producing immersive experiences in various locales across the city. Flores Negras unique capability of blending sounds of grooving dark techno, mechanical, tribal, sexy house and bits of film quotes into sets has earned her a loyal cult following. Her sound is sexy, punk, hypnotic and driven by an unapologetic feminine force. She has performed with the legendary founders of techno and ghetto house like DJ Slugo and Kevin Saunderson of the Belleville Three. She has played in the Chicago House Music Festival, historic venues like Thalia Hall, Smartbar and Spybar, as well as being featured in Elevator Music and playing with emergent and defining artists like Amelie Lens, Indira Paganotto, and Lindsey Herbert. Undoubtedly, given her fierce and persistent presence, Flores Negras will continue to contribute to the current and future sound of chicago nightlife.
